Common Questions

Still deciding whether to come in?

Do I need a doctor’s referral to start physical therapy?

In North Carolina, you can see a licensed physical therapist directly - no physician referral - for up to 30 days of care under direct access rules. For most musculoskeletal conditions that’s more than enough time to evaluate you and begin treatment. If your condition needs longer care, or your specific insurance plan requires a referral, we’ll tell you up front and help coordinate with your physician.

How do I know if physical therapy is right for my condition?

If you’re dealing with pain, stiffness, weakness, or limited movement - from a sports injury, surgery, an old ache, or a balance problem - PT is very often the right first step, and frequently helps patients avoid surgery or long-term medication. At your evaluation we assess your movement, strength, and history, then give you an honest recommendation. If we ever believe you need imaging or a physician first, we’ll say so and point you in the right direction.

How many sessions will I need, and how long is each visit?

It depends on your diagnosis and goals. Acute strains often resolve in 6–10 visits; post-surgical rehab typically runs 12–20 visits over 6–12 weeks; sports return-to-performance programs can be longer. Your initial evaluation runs 60–75 minutes and includes your first treatment. You’ll receive a written plan with an estimated visit count and milestones so there are no surprises.

What insurance do you accept, and what if I don’t have PT coverage?

We accept most major plans including Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Aetna, Humana, Tricare, Medicare, and workers’ compensation. We verify your specific PT benefit before your first visit so you know your cost in advance. No coverage? We welcome self-pay patients with transparent pricing - $125 for an initial evaluation and $95 per session, with a discounted 10-session package. Call us at (704) 555-0187 and we’ll walk you through the options.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Bring your insurance card, a photo ID, any relevant imaging (X-rays or MRI on disc), and a list of current medications. Wear or bring comfortable athletic clothing - shorts and a t-shirt work well for most evaluations. Plan for about 75 minutes, which covers a full assessment and your first hands-on treatment.

Ready to move without limits?
